Alpine Rose

The Region

Le Biot is the main administration town for the Vallèe D'Aulps, www.valleedaulps.com. Within this area of the valley there are many activities to keep you busy, night and day, winter or summer. Throughout the year there are lots of the local villages offering traditional crafts, food and drink and monthly festivals.

For more information on what there is to do in Morzine and the Portes du Soleil in winter and summer please visit
www.morzine.com.
From Le Biot you are less than 1 and a half hours from Mont Blanc and the town of Chamonix, from where you can can take the Mont Blanc tunnel and drive into Italy.

If you fancied a trip to the famous water town of Evian and its amazing spa, this is just 25 minute drive down the mountain. Evian is very cosmopolitan, has a golf course, casino, street cafes as well as plenty of that pure water 'on tap' at various 'free' taps around the town.

An hour away you will find yourself in the medival town of Annecy or Yvoire, depending what you want from a medivial town, either is a great day out.

Alpine Rose the house has been around for over 200 years having had many uses throughout its history ranging from, a family home to a bank, however the most important time in the houses history was during its 70 years use as the main bakery for the entire Vallèe D’Aulps. Although it baked its last baguette over 25 years go, you can still see the bread oven in the cellar. (although a little rusty these days)

The house has been constructed from traditional Savoie stone and has been sympathetically renovated ensuring traditional features, nooks and crannies remain within the property.
To drive direct to the house will take approximately 10 hours from Calais, you will go through the heart of France and pass many of the famous wine regions as well as through the Champagne region. Alternatively you can fly to Geneva, the closest airport which is served frequently daily by Easyjet,
www.easyjet.co.uk, British Airways, www.ba.com, Jet2, www.jet2.com and BMIbaby, ww.bmibaby.com
Once at Geneva you hire a car and the the drive from the airport is easy once out of Geneva there is only one turn off in order to get you up into the mountains and to Le Biot. A word of warning please watch out for speed cameras in Switzerland they will find and fine you eventually. (yes I have had a CHF 40 fine)
